Osun State University (UNIOSUN) officially matriculated over 13,000 new students on Thursday during its 19th matriculation ceremony, marking the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic session.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Professor Clement Adebooye reminded students of the responsibilities that come with admission. He urged them to maintain discipline, avoid misconduct, and use official channels to report challenges rather than airing issues on social media, which can damage both the university’s reputation and their own prospects.
The Vice Chancellor also addressed the ongoing accommodation challenge affecting students across campuses. He acknowledged the high rents imposed by some private landlords and assured that the university is taking steps to provide relief and regulate housing costs in the coming academic session.
The matriculated students were selected from a pool of approximately 40,000 applicants, with only about 30 percent meeting the institution’s criteria for admission.
