The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the deployment of 3,000 proctors for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as part of efforts to ensure a smooth and credible examination process.
This move is aimed at strengthening monitoring and supervision across all Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide. The proctors will be responsible for overseeing examination activities, ensuring compliance with guidelines, and preventing any form of malpractice.
The deployment comes amid increased preparations by the Board to enhance the integrity and transparency of the UTME. With over two million candidates expected to sit for the examination, JAMB has emphasized the importance of strict supervision and coordination during the exercise.
According to the Board, the proctors will work closely with centre administrators and other officials to ensure that all procedures are properly followed. Their presence is also expected to help quickly address technical or operational issues that may arise during the examination.
JAMB reiterated its commitment to conducting a fair and credible examination, warning that any individual found engaging in malpractice would face strict consequences.
The 2026 UTME is scheduled to hold nationwide within the official examination period announced by the Board, as preparations continue across various centres in the country.
