Thousands of candidates preparing for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have been locked out of making further corrections to their subject combinations following the closure of the official modification window by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
This became evident after candidates attempting to make changes on the portal were met with an error message stating: “You can no longer make changes to UTME subjects.” This confirms that the Board has officially ended the period for subject combination adjustments.
The closure marks a critical stage in the UTME process, as candidates are now expected to proceed with the subjects selected during registration. Subject combination plays a vital role in determining eligibility for admission into courses across Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
An admission consultant noted, “Candidates must now align their admission expectations with their chosen subjects. Any mismatch between subject combinations and course requirements could affect their chances.”
Affected candidates are advised to carefully review the subject requirements for their intended courses and consider alternative programmes where necessary.
As the UTME approaches, candidates are encouraged to focus on their academic preparation rather than administrative changes.
