The 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony for new undergraduate students is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 17th February 2026. Similarly, the 2025/2026 Central University Orientation Programme for the fresh students will be held from Wednesday, 18th to Thursday, 19th February, 2026.
Consequently, the three days (Tuesday, 17th, Wednesday, 18th, and Thursday, 19th February, 2026) are hereby designated as lecture-free for all the new undergraduate students in order to facilitate their participation in the events.
For the matriculation, it is mandatory for the students to wear an academic gown and attend the event at which the matriculation oath will be administered to complete the formalities for their admission to the University. A Special Bulletin was issued on Monday, 9th February, 2026, setting out the procedure for payment for the hiring and collection of the academic gown.
Both the Matriculation and Central University Orientation programmes will take place at Mamman Kontagora Square, ABU Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria by 9:00am daily. The students are required to be seated before 9:00am.
University buses have been scheduled to convey the students from Kongo Campus to Samaru Campus at 8:00am, and to return them immediately after the ceremony.
Deans of Faculties and Heads of Department are requested to ensure that the lecture-free days are strictly observed for the concerned students.
