The Governing Council of Lagos State University (LASU) has announced vacancies for three key directorate positions in the institution and has invited applications from suitably qualified candidates.
The positions, which are open for both internal and external applicants, include Director, Directorate of Works and Physical Planning; Director, Directorate of Sports and Recreation; and Director, University Multimedia Centre.
According to the advertisement, the exercise is in line with the provisions of the Lagos State University Law, 2004 (as amended), and the powers vested in the Governing Council to appoint principal officers of the University.
LASU, established in 1983, is described as one of the foremost universities in Nigeria, with sixteen faculties, six schools, nine centres, and three institutes spread across four campuses.
For the position of Director, Directorate of Works and Physical Planning, applicants are expected to possess a good honours degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building, Quantity Surveying, Town Planning or related disciplines, with at least eighteen years post-qualification experience. Candidates must also have a relevant higher degree, a minimum of five years’ experience as a Deputy Director in a university or similar institution, membership of recognised professional bodies, and demonstrable ICT proficiency.
Similarly, applicants for the post of Director, Directorate of Sports and Recreation must hold a good honours degree in Sports Science, Human Kinetics, or Physical and Health Education, alongside fifteen years post-qualification experience, a relevant higher degree, and at least five years’ experience as a Deputy Director in a comparable institution.
For the Director, University Multimedia Centre, candidates are required to possess a good honours degree, a relevant higher degree, fifteen years relevant experience in multimedia production and editing, and five years’ experience at Deputy Director level. Proficiency in AI tools, multimedia editing software, and online streaming platforms is also required.
The tenure of appointment for each directorate position is a single term of five years, non-renewable. Candidates must not be above sixty years of age by March 2026.
Remuneration is based on CONUNASS 15, with other benefits and allowances applicable to directors in Nigerian public universities, as approved by the Governing Council.
Interested candidates are required to submit fifteen copies of their detailed Curriculum Vitae, sealed under confidential cover and clearly marked with the position applied for, to the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos.
The advertisement notes that applications must reach the Registrar not later than six weeks from the date of publication, while shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview at a later date.
