The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Osun State University Branch, on Monday said it would join the two-week warning strike directed by the national body of the union.
UniOsun ASUU Chairman, Dr Weinde Olaosebikan, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Osogbo.
“The strike is a directive to all branches of ASUU nationwide; therefore, all branches of ASUU must join; must comply maximally.
“UniOsun ASUU will join the strike. There is no division among our members.
We are going to issue a directive before noon. The strike is commencing by (SIC) 12 midnight today.
“All academic activities have to be suspended until the end of the two-week warning strike,” he said.
NAN reports that the National President of ASUU, Prof. Chris Piwuna, at a news conference at the University of Abuja on Sunday, directed ASUU members in all public universities to embark on a nationwide two-week warning strike.
Piwuna gave the directive after the ultimatum issued to the Federal Government to meet their demands had elapsed on Sunday.
“The warning strike shall be total and comprehensive as agreed at the last NEC meeting,” Piwuna said.
