The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has issued a directive to school principals across Nigeria requesting the submission of names of computer-savvy teachers to serve as proctors during the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates.
In an official letter dated September 3, 2025, and referenced OJ/OIC/OFF.M2/VOL.1/568, WAEC emphasized that the Federal Government has mandated the conduct of the 2026 WASSCE as a Computer-Based Examination (CBE). As a result, the Council noted the urgent need to train and deploy qualified teachers with strong computer skills to assist in the smooth running of the examination.
According to the circular, principals are expected to nominate teachers who meet the following criteria:
* Educational qualification: Must be a qualified teacher or Education Officer on Grade Level 09 and above.
* Work experience: Must have between three to five years of teaching or administrative experience, with familiarity in examination processes and regulations.
WAEC stated that the selected teachers will undergo training in preparation for their roles as proctors during the examination.
