The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that the 2025 UTME Mop-Up Examination will take place on Saturday, 28th June 2025.
This special exam is a second chance for candidates who couldn’t write the main UTME or its rescheduled sessions due to technical issues, biometric challenges, or absence.
When to Print Your Exam Slip
All eligible candidates must print their examination notification slips starting Monday, 23rd June 2025. The slip will contain:
- Exam date and time
- Centre location
- Important instructions
Print your slip early to avoid missing your exam or going to the wrong venue.
Who Is Eligible for the Mop-Up Exam?
Not everyone is qualified to write this exam. Only selected candidates who fall into any of the following categories:
- 5,096 Spill-Over Candidates
These are candidates who were affected by technical problems such as power failure, poor network, or CBT centre errors during the main UTME. - Candidates with Biometric Issues
Those who couldn’t complete fingerprint verification and were not allowed to sit for the main exam. - 91,742 Absentee Candidates
These are candidates who missed both the main exam and the rescheduled test. This is their final opportunity for 2025.
A total of 96,838 candidates across 183 centres in Nigeria have been selected. Some other candidates are on standby in case more slots become available.
CBT Centres Sanctioned for Malpractice
JAMB has taken action against 113 CBT centres for engaging in misconduct, including:
- Assisting candidates to cheat
- Allowing impersonation
- Collecting illegal fees
- Causing technical issues
These centres have been delisted or suspended. Some are being investigated by law enforcement, and those found guilty will face prosecution.
Affected candidates will be moved to nearby centres. JAMB is asking for their understanding and cooperation.
Security Agencies Commended
JAMB has appreciated the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for their support in fighting exam malpractice.
They have successfully arrested:
- Professional exam writers
- Compromised JAMB officials
- Tutorial centre operators involved in exam fraud
No one involved in malpractice will be spared, regardless of age or background.
Warning to Professional Exam Takers
JAMB is watching this mop-up exam closely. Special invigilators and security personnel will be on the ground to catch impersonators.
Anyone caught will:
- Be disqualified immediately
- Be reported to their school for expulsion
- Be prosecuted under the Examination Malpractice Act, 1999
Even candidates under 18 or those whose parents were involved will not be exempted.
Changes to Exam Towns
Due to investigations, some exam towns have been disqualified. Candidates initially assigned to those locations will be moved to nearby towns.
JAMB advises affected candidates to be patient, as these measures are part of efforts to ensure fairness.

From Monday, 23rd June, visit the JAMB website or an accredited internet café to print your notification slip. - Arrive Early

According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the government is determined to clean up the system and ensure only credible candidates are admitted into higher institutions.
Final Advice to Candidates and Parents
To candidates:
This is your last opportunity for the 2025 UTME. Take it seriously, prepare well, and avoid misconduct.
