The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate the technical error that led to the mass failure in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The decision was made after a motion of urgent public importance was sponsored by Rep. Adewale Adebayo from Osun.

Over 78% of candidates scored less than 200 points out of 400
A technical error affected 379,997 candidates' results due to faulty server updates in Lagos and South-East zones.
The error occurred during the first three days of the examination and went undetected before results were released.

The House of Representatives will probe the technical error to prevent future occurrences
Affected candidates will retake the examination between May 16 and May 19, 2025
JAMB has taken responsibility for the error and apologized to candidates
Also the house of reps asked to Establish Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers in all Local Government Areas (LGAs) across the country. Release results of candidates under 16 years old who participated in the examination
Rep. Sada Soli commended JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, for admitting the technical error and apologizing to Nigerians, demonstrating integrity
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas left it to the investigation committee to decide on commending the JAMB Registrar.
